Neodymium Magnets
The most powerful magnets on Earth

All our magnets are high grade Neodymium, grade N45 or higher. They are much, much stronger than
common Neodymium magnets (N28, N35, N38, or N40) on the market today.

The magnets listed below are very powerful, much more powerful than magnets most people have seen, and need to be handled with proper care. The magnetic fields from these magnets can affect each other from more than 12 inches away. Please note that these magnets are fragile. Even though they are coated with a tough protective nickel plating, do not allow them to snap together with their full force or they may chip, break, and possibly send small pieces of metal flying on impact. Our larger magnets can easily bruise fingers and
even break finger bones as they attempt to connect together. Always wear protective eyewear or safety goggles when handling the magnets. Keep magnets away from any magnetic based storage devices such as desktop or laptop computers, hard drives, floppy disks, cassette tapes, VHS tapes, or credit cards. A distance of at least 12" should be kept between magnets and these items at all times. Keep them away from computer monitors, VCR'S and TV's, non-electronic wrist watches etc. If you or someone in your household has a PACEMAKER or another electronic surgical implant, don't even think of ordering these items. Neodymium magnets are not suitable for children to play with,
and should only be handled under strict adult supervision.
These Neodymium magnets are made to very demanding standards, however uses should be restricted to operating temperatures below 180° Fahrenheit (80° Celsius) or they will lose their magnetic properties.

SPECIAL NOTE !
All Neodymium magnets are not created equal!
You may find 'inexpensive' Neodymium magnets for sale from time to time. The phrase "buyer beware" certainly applies here. Our magnets are grade N45 (12,500 gauss) or higher. There are plenty of inexpensive Neodymium magnets available... but they have just a small fraction of the magnetic power that N45 magnets have. Like always, you get what you pay for.
Please note - due to the expense involved of machining dies, etc. , we do not fabricate custom magnets.

A Note About 'Pull Force' or 'Lift Strength'
We do not list 'Pull Force' or 'Lift Strength' on our magnets. The reason for this is that they are basically nonsense figures.
Depending on they type of material and thickness, a particular magnet may have a pull of 1,000 pounds on an 8" thick block of a certain Iron alloy... where on a piece of sheet metal, the same magnet may have a pull of only 10 pounds.
At 1/16" of an away from the magnet's face there could be thousands of pounds of pull, and at 12" away, a small BB will not even roll toward the magnet. Magnetic energy tapers off very quickly with distance, just like radiation and gravitational energy - it's known as the 'inverse square law'. Nd magnets in general will lift between 300 and 500 times their own weight - and even this figure can be misleading. Some Iron alloys have strong attractions to magnets and some do not attract at all.
The only way to determine if a magnet will work for your purposes is to physically test it in exactly the same conditions that it is intended to be used under. The thicker the magnet, the more pull it will have. As a 'ballpark' figure, a 1" cube can lift up to 125 pounds,
and a powerful Supermagnet, such as Supermagnet # 42, can lift close to 1,000 pounds.

If you really need unbelievably powerful magnets, here they are.
Uses include magnetic steering of nuclear particles in accelerators, levitation devices, magnetic beam amplifiers, scrap iron separators, etc.

Beware - you must think ahead when moving these magnets.
If carrying one into another room, carefully plan the route you will be taking. Sensitive instruments like CRT monitors will be affected in an entire room. Loose metallic objects and other magnets may become airborne and fly at great speed to attach themselves to these magnets. If you get caught in between the two Supermagnets you can be severely injured or killed. These magnets will crush bones in the blink of an eye.
Two of these magnets close together can create an almost unbelievable magnetic field that can be incredibly dangerous.

Two Supermagnets can very easily get out of control, crush fingers and instantly break ribs or even your arm if opposing poles fly at each other.
A small child recently lost his hand when his father left two # 31 supermagnets unattended. The child picked one up and when he approached the other magnet on a nearby table,
it became airborne and obliterated his small hand.

POLARITY
The disc Supermagnets are Axially Magnetized (the top & bottom flat faces are the north & south poles). The poles on Supermagnet #3 are the large 2" x 3" faces on opposite sides.
The 2" sphere is magnetized like the Earth, the top hemisphere is North, the bottom is South.

SHIPPING
We can only ship these magnets by ground UPS - they cannot be shipped via air as it will interfere with the aircraft's navigational equipment. All Supermagnets are packed in either small wooden boxes or with large blocks/panels of Styrofoam in double-wall cardboard boxes to minimize the external magnetic field.

These magnets are rated at Grade N45 - 12,500 gauss.
