Barium Chlorate is a powerful
oxidizer and was widely used in pyrotechnics as both an oxidizer and green
flame coloring agent. However, due to its unstable nature and history of
causing compositions made with it to spontaneously ignite, it was replaced
with more stable chemicals.
These days Barium Chlorate finds use in the manufacture of explosives,
Oxygen gas and in the textile & paper pulp industries.
