Wood's Metal
alloy of 4 metals
( blobs/drops )
The metal that melts in hot water !
Wood's metal is a fascinating alloy composed of
Bismuth, Cadmium, Tin and Lead with a melting temperature of only 158 degrees F... it will actually melt in hot water... and solidifies as quickly at room temperature. Small random shaped pieces are convenient to work with to make easily-castable metal parts or radiation shielding. Great for classroom demonstrations.
