Stirling Engines are fascinating machines - they run just by applying heat - from any source (flame, focused sunlight, etc). Our power generating Stirling Heat Engine is really a work of art. Crafted from stainless steel and Aluminum, this is an ideal Stirling Engine for classroom demonstration or Stirling Engine enthusiasts. Stirling Engines will operate off of any source of heat - from burning fuel, to focused sunlight, to nuclear. This beautiful engine is mounted on an anodized aluminum pedestal, which makes this look like a work of art as much as a fascinating piece of engineering. The engine includes a small DC electrical generator connected to an LED. A small alcohol lamp is included to use as a heat source - although you can substitute any heat source for it - including our Fresnel Lens or Parabolic Reflector to power it from the sun. The bigger the temperature differential the faster it runs. Overall it measures 8" x 4" x 4". Stirling Engines are ideal for educational demonstrations and have been used from middle school science classes to United States Naval Academy thermodynamics classes.
If you need to give a gift to someone who loves technology, this is guaranteed to put a smile on their face.
