Pure Zinc metal powder (dust). Zinc is a chemical element; atomic number 30. Zinc dust has a number of applications in the chemical industry, mainly as a reducing agent. It is frequently incorporated into paint for corrosion protection. Another popular use is in alkaline batteries. The Zinc, along with Manganese Dioxide and Potassium Hydroxide form a powerful primary battery. Zinc dust is also used in some older military smoke formulations. Zinc dust burns with a blue-green flame.
