Sodium Carbonate, also known as Washing Soda or Soda Ash is a Sodium Salt of Carbonic Acid. When heated to very high temperatures, combined with sand (SiO2) and Calcium Carbonate, and cooled very rapidly, glass is produced. It is often used as an electrolyte and since it is relatively strong base, it is used as an acidity regulator to raise PH of solutions.
