Copper Oxide (red)
( Cuprous Oxide )
chemical formula: Cu2O
( fine powder )
Red Copper Oxide, also known as Copper (I) Oxide and Cuprous Oxide, was the first substance known to behave as a semiconductor. It clearly exhibits a variety of distinct semiconductor properties and was used in rectifier diodes long before Silicon came into use. Red Copper Oxide also finds use as a novel catalyst in various chemical processes.
