Potassium
Dichromate
chemical formula: K2Cr2O7
( granular )
Potassium Dichromate is a
common inorganic chemical reagent, most commonly used as an oxidizing
agent in various laboratory and industrial applications. Solutions of it
are used in photography to develop negatives and in the aerospace industry
to protect Magnesium metal components against corrosion. It is also used
in some pyrotechnic compositions that contain Magnesium powder to prevent
the decomposition of the metal.
Caution:
Potassium Dichromate is
both toxic & corrosive. Use normal safety precautions (wear a filter
mask/respirator and gloves) when working with Potassium Dichromate. Accidental
inhalation of fine particles can be dangerous.
