Uranium Tetrafluoride

Uranium Tetrafluoride

Uranium Dioxide
chemical formula: UF4
( powder )
Uranium Tetrafluoride is a radioactive green crystalline Uranium compound solid that melts at about 1,760°F (960°C). It is very slightly soluble in water. It is generally an intermediate in the conversion to Uranium metal. It is formed by the reaction of Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) on Uranium Dioxide. Uranium Tetrafluoride can be readily converted to either uranium metal or uranium oxide. It is less stable than the uranium oxides and produces Hydrofluoric acid in reaction with water which is highly corrosive & toxic. Like all uranium compounds, inhalation of any dust particles can be hazardous. Ideal for collectors of those experimenting with Uranium compounds. Comes as shown above, small vial packed in standard chemical bottle.
Vial contains 1 gram of Uranium Tetrafluoride.
Caution: Use normal laboratory safety precautions when working with Uranium Tetrafluoride. Inhalation or ingestion of the dust particles may be harmful. Note: adult signature required upon delivery.
