The piece of glassware that was just about always shown in drawings of ancient Alchemists laboratories, Retorts are still a quick & easy way to distill liquids. The liquid to be distilled is placed in the vessel and heated. The neck acts as a rudimentary condenser, allowing the evaporated vapors to condense and flow along the neck to a collection vessel placed underneath. Not as efficient as using a modern water- cooled standard laboratory condenser, but a lot more convenient. This retort has a ground glass stopper making it suitable for use with highly corrosive materials or liquids that would attack rubber stoppers.
Like all our glassware, it is made from high quality heat resistant Borosilicate glass.
