The piece of glassware that was just about always shown in drawings of ancient Alchemists laboratories, Retorts are still a quick & easy way to distill liquids. The liquid to be distilled is placed in the vessel and heated. The neck acts as a condenser, allowing the evaporated vapors to condense and flow along the neck to a collection vessel placed underneath. Not quite as efficient as using water cooling and a standard laboratory condenser, but a lot more convenient. This retort has a ground glass stopper making tit suitable for use with highly corrosive materials or liquids that would attack rubber stoppers.
